Another year, another Art Journal circle is complete.  It is so exciting to have it arrive and to enjoy all the wonderful contributions by our assembled group of artists.

My sincere thanks to all who added to the beauty of my art journal.

Hi Everyone!

 

Sharing my pages in Pam's "Words of Wisdom" journal!

 

I loved the A4 sized pages - lots of space to work in!

 

 

I started by adding blobs of paint to the pages and them rolled over all the paint in different directions with a brayer until the pages were covered - being careful not end up with a mess of blended colour that looked like mud LOL!!!

 

 

Of course I used paper doll elements from various collage sheets from my fav collage store @Etsy "Art Tea Life". I had a lot of fun putting together all the bits to make these paper dolls!!! It was time consuming fussy cutting all the bits and pieces and gluing them together but well worth the effort!

 

 

 

Next I stamped all the letters to make the wording for my "Words of Wisdom"!

Whatever you decide to do make sure it makes you happy!

 

I then arranged everything on the pages and glued all the elements to the page - quite a few elements to glue on!!! Love how the pages look!

Pam’s journal

These words of wisdom were given to me by my grandmother,
who I always thought was a very wise old lady. 

I am sure she didn’t think them up but I don’t know who said them first, so I can’t give them credit. 

It was a lovely journal to work in, so I hope you like it Pam

Looking for Wisdom

 Words of Wisdom arrived with winter, things were insanely busy with trying to sell our house and homeschooling and just family life.

I wasn't too concerned as I can usually create a reasonable spread in our allocated month fairly easily and incubation time always takes up the begining of the month for me.

I love the arrival of a new journal.  I love the anticipation and excitement and I love that first perusal over a cuppa. 

I tend to put it on the shelf then and let my ideas brew. Sometimes I will look through the journal a few times in this process until my idea starts to form. 

Sometimes I dont get an idea at all!

I just start playing and let it happen.

And this page is one that evolved on the page, intuitively.

 After 6 days sick in bed I was desperate to art despite have no wisdom on what I would create.

I just doodled all over the page with intense pencils then activated with watered down white and a tiny brayer. Looking at what came out made me think of pebbles on a beach and away I went.

Ooh, I love receiving a new journal in the mail!  There's just something about the anticipation of opening a package, and then seeing the journal IRL (in real life, for those who aren't up with their acronyms...!).  The delight to see a package sitting on the kitchen bench when I get home from work.  Ooh!  Mail for me!  Ooh!  Someone actually emptied the letter box!

But I digress...

Pam's journal is an A4 affair with lovely Stonehenge paper.  Really need to get me some of that!  

Words of Wisdom.  Could really be anything, couldn't it?  Don't run with scissors.  Wipe your fridge with vanilla to keep it fresh.  An apple a day keeps the doctor away.   Don't get your meat where you get your bread (which I think means, don't sleep with someone from work!)

I trolled through Pinterest and found a saying that I liked, and meant something to me:

May your clothes be comfy, may your coffee be strong, and your Monday be short.

Yaaas!  I suffer from Mondayitis and definitely need a coffee first thing in the morning.  Happy with this addiction.

Anyway, to my page! 

Here's a little snippet. 

I decided on a mixed media page, and started out with teabags laid down with matte gel medium to make my coffee table.  The remainder of the page I painted with black Dylusions paint.

Next I got out my trusty black pens and drew some lines on the teabags to make it look more like timber.  Quite like how it turned out!  The different teabag colours really resemble timber. 😊

Next I cut a round circle from watercolour paper and drew my cappuccino with water-soluble pencil.  This way I wouldn't need to worry about erasing lines when I watercoloured; the pencil blends really well.   The cuppa was then watercoloured.

Once finished, I glued it in using matte gel medium, and added a teaspoon (again cut from watercolour paper).  Added an edge to the table, a bit of shadow, and voila!  

To finish off I added my quote, stamping with white gesso.

Round 6. Words of Wisdom. by Pam.

Finally finished my art journal.It was a hard slog but I got there in time. I started with my sheets of stonehenge paper which I tore into quarters and then folded in half to give me a journal approx A4 size. It has two signatures and a cover that wraps around.

I painted some colours over the cover and then stencilled over with white paint.

I then added some black paint through a stencil.

I chose to use the middle spread because there was a gap between my signatures. I painted, reverse stencilled, stencilled and stamped and generally made a messy background with colours that pleased me.

I stencilled my yoga pose with black paint and then stencilled over with white, cut her out and stuck her down.

Opposite page is my quote which reads: If you only have one smile in you, give it to the people you love. 

 Maya Angelou.

This is how the whole spread looks.

On the page next to the inside cover where my contract is attached, I made a flower from tissue paper on a sprayed background with a lovely quote: If the bees only collected nectar from perfect flowers, they wouldn't be able to make even a smallest drop of honey.

 And next a title for my cover.

At the back of my journal I have included a series of speech bubbles for my guests to say a few words if they choose to about their spread and when they worked in my art journal.

And lastly could I please remind everybody to clearly sign and date their work.
