Mon's entry in Jan's "Three Words"

Jan's "Three Words" journal was a bit of a challenge for me in the beginning.
No three words I could think of resonated with me so off to google I went and found:

I Become Myself

This instantly rang true to me as I have been feeling like I am really becoming myself lately, knowing more who I am and what I like and kind of "settling" into myself like into a comfy armchair.

 

Of course becoming oneself is not an overnight thing, there are many steps to get there and I don't know if one ever gets there until the very end or whether there are different stages of becoming oneself.
I did a play on words and tried to make as many different three word phrases out of the original one as a path to becoming oneself.

I used Neocolour II and Inktense pencils.

I hope Jan will like it. xoxo

Just Three Words - Louise

 It was a pleasure to play in Jan's lovely handmade journal.

Just Three Words

is her chosen theme so that leaves the field wide open to do as you please really.

I added a extra piece so I had more room to play

and I used a Jessica Sporn stencil and lots of texture and layers.

I took it out into the sun to try and pick up the under layers more clearly.

I thought that I would have trouble trying to think of just three words, but it came to me quite quickly.  Shine your light.  We all need to do that more often as we hide behind our fears, we need to show ourselves more and say 'YES' I can do that... and shine our lights brightly for all to see  :-).

Just Three Words.

I have just finished my spread in Jan's beautiful handmade journal, with the theme Just Three Words.

I get really nervous when I am working in another persons book, due to the fact that I am inexperienced.....but in saying that I usually enjoy the experience.

For this spread I chose the words from Jan's helpful list...Butterflies Are Free.  I think a sense of freedom is very appealing as all my life I have taken responsibility for somebody.

I began with a spray of Heidi Swapp in Teal and Pink over a stencil.  Then I tore out lots of butterflies from a paper napkin and attached them with matt medium. I painted a larger butterfly and stamped the title.  To finish I wrote the words butterfly and free randomly with different coloured pens.  Hope it turned out OK.

And now to fly this journal to Janene and await the next dramatic journaling event.

Keep it Simple

Here is my spread in Jan's journal, Just Three Words

I used  one of the suggestions that Jan has in the journal - Keep it Simple.

I hope this isn't too 'scrapbooky.' These are vintage images that I printed out - the left hand side is coloured by hand with distress markers and some copic marker as well. The lettering is stamped, embossed and cut out by hand. I did a little decoupage in the right hand image and the background is coloured with watercolour inks and stamped.

First Blog Post

This is a bit of a test run to see if I can follow instructions!!

Just read Blogging 101.

Well I managed to get there and my draft was there!!!
Here goes....

My very first blog post! I couldn't have done it without Louise’s 101 lesson. Thank you so much.

I got good at re-sizing using Paint and ‘saving as’ I just hope the quality is ok.

You have mostly seen the cover that I made using heavy duty brown card that is used in commercial pattern making. This was courtesy of my daughter.  I applied the base coat, then crackle medium then the warm white paint that crackled nicely.

Then I stenciled letters and some patterns in colours I like. Then I attached the sari ribbon and some embellishments. I printed the words and embossed them to make them 3D. And the back cover has some stenciling as well.

Next I did the first page which was a lot of fun.

I loved the idea that Louise had for the pockets at the back and shamelessly copied( thanks Louise!) But maths is not my strong suit so the spacing was a bit wonky. But hey  it works!

I have written a blurb in the front and some lists of prompts (that probably wont be needed, but I thought I should include some of my inspirations that helped me to choose my theme.

I think I will leave it at that. I am exhausted from the stress. (a picture is round the wrong way!!)

An accomplishment tho! Really chuffed.
